prospectus_VXIII-1The TCCR founded in 1948 is recognised in its field as a centre of advanced practice and study, both nationally and internationally. It is a practice-based organisation committed to studying the nature of the couple relationship. Our clinical and academic courses are accredited by UKCP, BACP, BPC and validated by the University of East London (UEL).

What course is right for me?

We deliver a unique body of courses for those wanting to increase their understanding of relationships. They range from lectures, short courses and practitioner development programmes (CPD) workshops through to postgraduate diplomas, MA, MSc and doctoral programmes leading in most cases to a clinical qualification. All of our core training takes place at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships in Central London.

  • Clinical Training   ( 3 Articles )
    clinicalOur Clinical Training Programmes are designed for people who wish to train as practitioners of Relationship Counselling or Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. We offer a stepped training programme which ranges from an Introductory Course in Couple Counselling (PC1) and Postgraduate Diploma in Couple Counselling (CT2) to a Professional Doctorate in Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (CT1). Our clinical trainings combine theoretical study with supervised clinical practice.

    academicThis professional development programme is for people working with parents and couples who want to explore and apply contemporary thinking about couple relationships and families to their work settings. You may be someone working in a Family or Children's Centre; a social worker or psychologist; or an individual or couple counsellor or therapist; and you may be interested in CPD that underpins the skills and knowledge needed for the 'Work with Parents' qualification or an academic award from PG Certificate, PG Diploma to a case study-based MA. See below for details:

  • Contract Training & Consultations   ( 1 Articles )
    contractThe TCCR offers individually tailored consultations and programmes based on any of our short courses which can be arranged to meet the needs of individual organisations or individual practitioners who are interested in thinking about their work with couples and parents in specialised settings, such as: NHS psychotherapists, counsellors in primary care, social workers in adoption and fostering services and other professional groups.

    We also offer consultations to managers and supervisors as wll as the facilitation of staff teams, and we work with potential commissioners to understand their training or consultation needs.

    conversionThese courses are for those who already have a clinical qualification. Entry with advanced standing is possible on a number of our courses. See each of the course details for further information.
  • Summer Schools   ( 3 Articles )
    Both Summer Schools described below are aimed at those who want a short and intensive learning experience centred around the psychoanalytic understanding of the couple relationship and the application to working with the adult couple. They might be of interest to those living outside London or abroad.
