"Being and Doing" - Technical Issues in Psychoanalytic work with Couples.

The Autumn Conference explored the technical challenges of working with couples such as the use of transference, confidentiality issues and single sessions. David Hewison (Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Jungian analyst) looked at an overview of the changes in the approach to working with couples at TCCR. Mary Morgan (Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, Psychoanalyst) outlined the beliefs about a couple & beliefs about the other; the effect on the capacity for change. And Christel Buss Twachtmann (Head of Training, Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist) lead a Supervision Master Class.

The afternoon consisted of small study groups on a variety of issues led by senior staff at TCCR. Susanna Abse on working with borderline couples. Andrew Balfour on working with the impact of life transitions on the couple. Christel Buss Twachtmann on working with the couple's inability to manage disappointment and disillusion. David Hewison on whether or not to interpret the transference? And Mary Morgan on working with couples' unconscious beliefs about the other.
